Tech Support: Frequent crashes just after Windows 7 upgrade.

Frequent crashes just after Windows 7 upgrade.

Lets start off with some system specs:
MOBO- ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Processor- AMD Athlon 64*2 Dual Core Graphics Card- NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT/GTO Sound Card- Realtek AC'97 OS- Windows 7 64 bit Memory (RAM)- 2GB Disc Space- 250GB
I just upgraded my 32 bit XP system to a 64 bit Windows 7 system (terribly painful process) and downloaded all of my drivers, updates, and MS Security Essentials just in case.
Once i got all of my hardware working to my liking, i began surfing the web to
get all of my plugins back in place.
After downloading the flash plugin required for youtube videos, I clicked on a video, the page began to load, and just before it played, the system crashed.
All that was displayed was a fuzzy blue screen with no error code,
and i was forced to do a hard restart (i hate doing that).
Upon reset, i began exploring my computer to find all the things that would make my computer crash in order to determine what the cause was.
Here is a list of what i found to make my computer crash.
Video Streaming Downloading Sleep Mode Screen Saver Program Installation Idle on my home screen (not too often)
My first instinct is to upgrade my memory (4*512MB) to 4*1GB sticks which i ordered a few days before the upgrade so they should be here soon.
I think this could fix my problem, but I am not 100% sure.
Does anyone know of any troubleshooting I can do in
the meantime before my memory gets here? My drivers are up to date, and i haven't imported a single file from my backup disc yet.
All feedback is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!
Jason
NOTE: Every crash looks the same, and is impossible to navigate away from.
I DO have two devices in my device manager labeled as "Unknown Device" with no driver, but i have no clue what these devices are.
EDIT: I have discovered new information that i believe makes this problem no longer windows related.
My video card has two DVI ports and upon "crashing" if i plug my monitor into the other port, the display is restored back to normal.
I have
tried re-seating the video card but crashes still occour.

Hello, SheetsJF
Judging from the picture of your monitor, it’s most likely either a faulty card or faulty drivers.
Since you can change the display ports and get a picture again, I would lean more toward the driver. A friend was having a similar problem though and,
in his case, it turned out his cards had overheated that caused permanent damage due to the fan speed being set to 35% by default.
I assume since you had upgraded recently you have the latest drivers installed.
If not, try the latest.
You may also try an older
driver version to see if that helps.
You may need to install your chipset drivers as well.

If you failed to fix it, another option is to call Microsoft and walk through the process with a technician. To do this, dial "1-800-936-5700". Explain the error that you received and the steps in the update process during which it was displayed. The technician will be able to walk through the steps from getting a new product key to finishing the installation.
