After upgrading to Windows 7, Internet Explorer and game crashes

Original Title: Please convince me I havent competely wasted 200$ on a ____ "upgrade"
 
Please convince me that I havent wasted 200$ by putting win7 on my desktop instead of XP.
I have recently installed win7 64 on my pc and have had continuing problems with it.
1.
cant handle nearly ANY downloads.
ie: posting a new profile pic on facebook and opened a new tab to download a new pic and disconnects from the internet.
"reset local area connection" is what the trobleshooter says.
This happens even on a web page that
has alot of plugins.
2.
have to restart pc every time I want to use Ventrilo and World of Warcraft at the same time (the only time i use it) which is a real pain being that the two go hand in hand.
IF that even fixes the issue (40% of the time it stops responding anyway)
3.
have done a small amount of reasearch and have come to the conclusion that I am not the only one with this problem, but one of many many unhappy consumers.
I 'upgraded' to win7 64 thinking that its been out for a bit and bugs would be worked out and performance would increase, I am regretfully finding the opposite.
I was useing an unreleased version of XP that far out performed this win7 ____.
IF there are
any "fixes" to these issues please point me in the right direction and I will be happy to jump through yet many more 'hoops' for a multi-million dollar company that has just essentially stolen money from my pocket and took a big ____ on my desktop.
I think it's
crazy that I cant download things and use my pc for more than one thing at a time without it stop responding or disconnecting itself form the internet.
200$ crazy at that!
I am an avid gamer and so far a 2000 copy of a version of XP puts this 'up-to-date', 'better' OS to shame!

Solutions to the Problem After upgrading to Windows 7, Internet Explorer and game crashes

- What kind of a internet connection do you have? Is it a wired or a wireless connection?
- What's the make and model of your computer? Do you install all the updated drivers on your system?
Method 1: Try to reset Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and check if the issue persists.
The reset command is available in the IP context of the NetShell utility.
Follow these steps to use the reset command to reset TCP/IP manually:
a.    Click Start,and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
b.    Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click
Continue. 
c.    At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:
          “netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt”
           Note:If you do not want to specify a directory path for the log file, use the following command:  “netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt”
d.    Reboot the computer.
Note: Type the commands without using the double quotes.
Method 2: Boot your computer in Safe Mode and check if the issue persists there, if it does not persist in Safe Mode perform Clean Boot to identify the application causing this issue.
 
Step 1: Check if the issue persists in Safe Mode.
Safe mode startsWindows with a limited set of files and drivers.
Startup programs don't run in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to startWindows are installed.
Step 2: If the issue does not persist in Safe Mode perform a Clean Boot to check if there is any third party application which is causing this issue.
To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs.
This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. 
Putting your system in clean boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue.
If yes, you may have to contact the program manufacturer for any updates or uninstall and re-install the program.

In this method we will try to Boot in Safe mode with Networking and see if the error still persists.

  • Search "MSCONFIG" and Open.
  • Click on Boot Tab
  • Tick Safe Boot in Boot Option
  • Select Network.
  • Click Apply and OK.
  • Reboot your System.
