Anytime I try to download anything my computer crashes.  I am using vista on an acer extensa 5220.
I can't download anything to check for viruses etc.  when I try to download something the download begins but ends up freezing everything.
Another problem
that may or may not be related is I can't open the Acer Empowering Technology options installed on my laptop.  All the widgets seem to be locked and I can't work out how to unlock them.

I downloaded the malware to my compaq desktop and trasnsferred to the usb.  The malware works on the compaq.
When I try to open it from the usb on the Acer it won't open.
I tried the open and run as administrator options.
