6gb of RAM but System information shows only 3.50gb is usable

Original Title: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
I have recently digitally installed Windows 7 64-bit, and bought more ram to compensate.
Well, after the installation, my system info says 6gb of ram but only 3.50gb usable.
My BIOS is up to date and also reads the full 6144 ram, but in the control panel
in Windows system info tab, it shows that Windows is only using 3.50.
I've read from similar posts to run the MSCONFIG program and uncheck the max.
memory there, but it has made no difference for me.
If anyone has any tips or answers, please enlighten me.
