Fast Solution to Problem: 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate very slow navigate

64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate very slow navigate

When I navigate over our LAN, the system is very slow to open a folders.  Every time I open a folder there is a green bar that runs across the address like it is scanning.  This takes it about 20 - 40 seconds to complete.  On an XP machine (even old/slow
machines), it responds in an instant when navigating over the same network to the same folders.
See what is frustrating about this is I am the "Network guinea pig".  We never had a copy of vista any where in our 300+ users and I have been trying to convince ever one there is nothing wrong with Windows 7.  So we bit the bullet and ordered a Dell PC
with Windows 7 64-bit.
Side by side, XP is blowing the socks off 7 and that "just ain't right".  Now on all fronts is XP doing that?  No but basic navigation is not the place I expected 7 to have problems.  I was thinking...
Ok, its gonna take 5 minutes to load, have driver problems,
etc.  So far it loads just as fast as XP if not faster.  Program installs are much faster!  Print Drivers are the only annoyance there so far.

Resources are not a problem.  Brand new PC with XEON and 6 gigs of RAM.
I have one physical hard drive along with several mapped hard drives to a local server.
Trend Micro may not be helping this either.  If anyone else is having this issue, I'd be curious to know if anyone else has Trend Micro installed? (I've seen where it made XP do something similar but even as I have mentioned above both the new Win7 machine
and the old/slow XP machines have trend micro.)
Thanks!
