Troubleshooter of Error: 32-bit IE 9 stops responding but 64-bit IE9 is ok

32-bit IE 9 stops responding but 64-bit IE9 is ok

I've solved this problem but I wanted to post my solution here so that others having a similiar issue might be able to search for it.

I have a Windows Vista 64-bit maching running both 32-bit Internet Explorer 9 and 64-bit Internet Explorer 9.
32-bit IE9 started acting up but I didn't really pay attention since I mainly use the 64-bit version.
The 64-bit version was not affected and ran
without problems.
But, I eventually bought a program that required the 32-bit version and that forced me to deal with the freezing problem.

32-bit Internet Explorer would attempt to load a webpage but the load would never complete.
IE would stop responding altogether if I attempted to issue commands to IE (e.g.
refreshing the page, accessing the IE menu, etc).

After spending an entire weekend trying to trouble-shoot, and following all of the suggestions on Microsoft's support website and elsewhere, my problem turned out to be a free install of DFX Audio Enchancer, a plugin for Windows Media Player.
I uninstalled
the plugin and IE 32-bit version ran like new.

So if you have a problem with 32-bit Internet Explorer freezing or becoming unresponsive and you have the free install version of DFX Audio Enchancer, try uninstalling DFX Audio Enchancer.
