Unable to raise windows Backup and Restore

W7 home Premium.
64 bit.
Office 2010 Pro.
Desktop
I was running a trial of Acronis 2012.
I opened Windows Backup and it successfully did a full system backup.
I then deleted all previous Acronis backups from The backup HD (K), one of which I had converted to Windows backup.
My intention was to remove Acronis
and then do another full sysyem backup from windows.I formatted K: before starting.
Windows does not now respond to my request to backup.
and the facility, together with all restore points, has gone from my computer.
I have not yet attempted computrer repair.
Any Ideas anyone?

Note: Follow step 7 to reset the computer to start as usual after the clean boot process.

Method 2:
 
I would also suggest you to perform System File Checker scan.
 
To open a command prompt in administrative mode:
 
a)     Click Start
and type cmd
b)     Right click on the result and choose
Run as Administrator
Once the prompt is in administrator mode, sfc should run correctly.
Let us know what the results are from the SFC.

Run CHKDSK

• Go to the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• At the command prompt, type "chkdsk /r /f" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Reboot your computer.
