Hi,

Does it mention anywhere on the screen "Safe Mode" after brief inactivity? Check if you are using a sleep or hibernation option and what are the settings done for the it?
Are the drivers and softwares for all hardware devices installed successfully and updated?
Method 1:
Boot the computer in safe mode and check if the issue persists
Refer to link given below on how to boot in safe mode.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Method 2:
Put the computer in clean boot and check.

Refer to the link given below for help on how to perform clean boot
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

If everything works fine after a clean boot, you can infer that some third party services are causing the problem.
Proceed with the remaining steps to pin-point out the third party service.
After you figure out the problem causing program and if you seldom use that software you can consider uninstalling it.
Important:
Remember to put the computer back to normal startup follow step 7 in the link.

Method 3:
Disconnect all the external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) drives, etc...)  Except mouse and the keyboard and test
If this corrects the issue then add the devices back one at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue.  Then get any updated drivers\software for the device

 Method 4:
Review the information below and change to 'Never' for sleep mode and hibernation.
