Cannot Start Excel 2007 - Message "Microsoft Office Excel has stopped working"

I cannot open Excel 2007

It gives me that message every single time.
I tried following steps answered for this question on another thread, but I cannot even get to the screen in Programs and Features where you click on the Change button for Microsoft Office.
It starts to load
the Change screen but just goes away.
I need help.

i believe there is corruption of MSI files / installation files.
I would suggest you to uninstall office completely using FIXIT

then try installing office
Make sure you have the full version disc and product key for office 2007
