32 Bit software slow or unresponsive on win 7 pro 64 bit

Hi
I'm having problems with 32bit software,
IE8 32bit, Norton anti-virus, firefox 3.6.6 and windows explorer.
those programs take a long time  to load, and will often show not responding on task manager.
IE8 64bit works with out any problems,
When I first start the computer all programs will work fine but after 10 minutes or so they slowdown.
My first taught was virus but have scanned multiple times and used the latest Malicous software removal tool.
I have also scanned using sfc/scannow.
all these programs show no issues found.
I never get any missing file promts or BSOD.
Just very unresponsive appliations.
I had been running windows 7 on a clean install without problems for over 3 months.

When I first start the computer all programs will work fine but after 10 minutes or so they slowdown.
Uninstall Norton, reboot, and run the
Norton Removal tool for the Version of Norton installed.
Reboot once more.
Did that speed the system up ?
